These terms govern your use of Stashsum (the "app"), offered by Stashsum ("we", "us"). By using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

• Stashsum is free with one ledger. Pro is a one-time purchase that adds more ledgers and sync.
• Your data is yours and is stored on your device; with sync, only an encrypted copy reaches our server. Keep backups and your recovery code: without sync your device holds the only copy, and with sync, if you lose the recovery code and every device that holds the key, nobody, including us, can decrypt it.
• We run the sync service on a best-effort basis and will give at least 90 days' notice in the app before ending it.
• Do not misuse the sync server or get around the license checks.
• These terms are governed by the laws of the country you live in, including its mandatory consumer protections.

1. What the app is

Stashsum records the balances of your accounts at points in time and shows how they change. It stores your data on your own device. Optionally, it syncs your data between your devices through end-to-end encryption, so that we cannot read it.

The app is a record-keeping tool. It does not give financial, tax or investment advice, and exchange rates it shows are estimates for reference only.

2. Free and Pro

The app is free to use with one ledger. Pro is a one-time purchase that adds:

• more than one ledger;
• turning on end-to-end encrypted sync, which also keeps an encrypted copy of your data on our server so you can recover it with your recovery code.

Local backup, restore and Excel export are free. A device that joins a sync group someone already turned on (by pairing or with the recovery code) does not need its own purchase.

Pro is sold on the web as a license key through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record: your purchase is a transaction with Lemon Squeezy and is also governed by its terms. Purchases made in the App Store or Google Play are governed by those stores' terms.

A license key is for you and your own devices. Do not share, resell or publish it. A key may be activated directly on up to 5 devices; devices that join through sync do not count.

3. Your data and your responsibility

• Your data is yours. You keep all rights in what you enter. We do not receive it, except in encrypted form when you turn on sync (see the Privacy Policy).
• Keep backups. A browser or operating system can delete a web app's stored data. If sync is off, the only copy of your data is on your device; export backups regularly.
• Keep your recovery code. Sync is encrypted with a key that only your devices hold. If you lose the recovery code and every device that holds the key, nobody, including us, can decrypt your data.

4. The sync service

We run the sync server on a best-effort basis. It may be unavailable at times, and we may change or end it. If we decide to end it, we will give at least 90 days' notice in the app. Your devices always keep a full copy of your data, so the app keeps working without the server, and you can still export backups.

A sync group that has not been read or written for 400 days is deleted. Each sync group is limited to 5 MiB, and the number of sync groups that can be created is limited per network address and per license key, to keep the service available for everyone.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use the sync server for anything other than syncing the app's own data; do not try to access data that is not yours; do not overload, probe or disrupt the server; and do not reverse the license checks to obtain Pro without buying it.

We may refuse service to traffic that breaks these rules.

6. Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We do not warrant that it will be error-free or that data will never be lost. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Pro.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. We will show the date at the top and, for material changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new terms.

9. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country you live in, including its mandatory consumer protections.
